Veterinary medicine is a rewarding, yet challenging career. In order to have career longevity, work-life balance, and job satisfaction, boundary setting and self-care are essential. Join Heather for a 90-minute workshop on creating wellness action plans and developing strategies for boundary setting and self-care. This is an interactive session with a chance to practice some mindfulness techniques and ask questions.
Dr. Heather Gunn-McQuillan
Heather graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in Canada in 2005 and worked in private practice, industry and academia. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher and is trained as a meditation and mindfulness instructor. She is currently the Assistant Dean of Clinical and Professional Programming at the Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island in Canada and oversees the teaching hospital there. She has been teaching vet students at the college since 2010. Heather was drawn to becoming a yoga teacher and mindfulness instructor to share the gifts of yoga and wellness. Spurred to action by the wellness crisis in veterinary medicine, she wanted to improve and promote wellness both inside and outside of the college. She has been thrilled to facilitate private and corporate wellness workshops both to veterinarians and other industry sectors. She is married to a wonderful husband, Jarrod, has two fantastic kids, Finlay and Emma, and a little backyard flock of chickens.
